3.5 Special observations
We noticed that when a non-grounded electrode was used the person holding the electrode would be loaded with static electricity until he discharged it to the floor or someone else. This could later be applied to our work on storing the charge.
We noticed that when an electrically conducting material was brought within approximately 15cm of the van de graaff dome, the dome stopped discharging to the electrode even if the material was not grounded. Will do further research in this area. We speculate that the current flows down the path of less resistance, as has been proven before.
